Races
Ashes of Creation offers nine playable races.[2]
- Aela Humans (Kaelar and Vaelune).
- Pyrian Elves (Empyrean and Py'Rai).
- Kaivek Orcs (Ren'Kai and Vek).
- Dünzenkell Dwarves (Dünir and Niküa).
- Tul'nar.[3]
Racial abilities
Character benefits in Ashes of Creation are tied to that character's background rather than their race.[4][5]
- We want players to have the freedom to choose the race they want to play because they're excited about it, and avoid situations where players feel forced to play a specific race because of gameplay benefits.[6]
- Races are not gender or class locked.[7][8]
- Race likely won't affect the artisan system.[5][9]
- Race does not affect a character's base stats.[10]
- Some classes may work better with certain races but nothing is enforced.[7]
- A player's choice of race will influence their racial augments.[8]
Racial augments
Racial augments are based on a character's race and are available to each class.[11]
- These apply to abilities on a character's primary archetype.[8]
- They affect how the ability works and can also apply cosmetic effects.[12]
Racial influence on nodes
A Node's architecture is determined by the primary race that contributes to its development.[13]
Starting zones
Players will be able to choose their starting Divine gateway.[14]
