Treasure maps are a type of Consumable in Ashes of Creation.

Treasure hunting is scheduled for release in Alpha-2 phase-2.[1][2]

Treasures are essentially maps that you can either discover fragments of or you can discover full maps. They have different rarities, so you can have common maps up to legendary maps and pieces that you can then craft with the scribing profession to find maps as well; and these maps, depending on the rarity, will give you a general location to try to discover a dirt mound; and if you can discover that dirt mound and you have the necessary digging supplies you can interact with it for a treasure chest that has a wide variety of reward table loot for you to find.[1]Steven Sharif

Treasure maps are used to help to pinpoint the location of hidden treasures throughout the world to enable players to reap unique rewards from exploration.[1][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]

You acquire these treasure maps. They have points within the world that you need to find. There might be multiple points and the treasure might exist at one of those multiple points. You might be timed for depending on the rarity of the treasure map in order to accurately find that location. And you'll be required to have consumable items within your inventory in order to dig the treasure up; and then when you do dig that treasure up, you're going to roll on a loot table and sometimes there might be a eureka moment of a lottery hit and that's super cool, depending on the quality of the treasure map that you receive; and treasure maps are tradable. So that's the barebone implementation of it and we have a lot of plans for it going forward.[3]Steven Sharif

  • The more treasure a player finds the better maps they can create.[9]
  • Hints are given through rumor mills, interaction with different NPCs, and gaining access to potential dig sites.[9]
  • Treasure hunting will be a "way of life" rather than a profession.[8]
