The land is broken up regularly with modest forest and little rocky outcroppings; and eventually they'll drain down to a coastal area. So if you look at the whole entire map you can see where those those rivers and those lakes go down to. All reminiscent of classic pastoral farmlands: so very very fertile lands that would be great for farming. – Margaret Krohn

Riverlands (full name: The Kaela Riverlands) is a biome in Ashes of Creation.

• Riverlands is the ancestral home of the Aelan and is the present day home of the Kaelar.
• Riverlands is the largest biome in Alpha-2. It houses the Aelan divine gateway in the ruins of the Aelan capital city Aela.
• The Riverlands biome can experience seasonal changes across all four seasons.

• Alpine Forest is part of the Riverlands biome.

The first biome (or zone) created typically in mmo development is much, much longer in time to create than the subsequent zones. This is due in large part to the development and refinement of tools that designers and content teams use to populate and dress the world. In Ashes, you see a lot of the riverlands because of a purposeful production decision to use the riverlands as the zone where we have detailed out and refined our tool sets. So development time is not linear when it comes to the other zones and their development. – Steven Sharif
